Ministries
Six ways this congregation spends itself
Worship and music, education at every age, a garden that feeds a food pantry, and a kitchen being rebuilt for the neighborhood.
Worship
Glorifying God alone
Come to grow through worship, service, fellowship and education — and bring your questions with you. We practice open communion on the first Sunday of each month; all who trust Jesus are welcome at the table, children included.
School year
10:00am in the sanctuary.
June to Labor Day
9:00am outdoors — Gather at the Garden, on the memorial patio.
Online
Every service is streamed to our YouTube channel.
Education
Lifelong faith formation
Sunday School, Confirmation, an Inquirers Class, and a long-running Wednesday morning Bible study.
Sunday School · grades K–5
Each month children explore Bible stories through art, service projects and music. On the first Sunday they sing in worship, visit the library for story time, and return for communion. Every child has a deacon buddy for the year.
Confirmation · grades 6–10
A joint program with other churches in Milwaukee Presbytery, meeting monthly for study and a meal. In the second year, youth build a mission immersion project with a mentor.
Inquirers Class
Once a year, anyone interested can explore the Covenant Family, membership and their own faith with church leaders over a shared meal.
Adult Bible Study
Wednesdays at 10:30am — biblical texts, church history and theology. Every other week in summer.
We call ourselves the "covenant family" because we have people of all ages — from newborns all the way to older people.Marilyn John
Garden
Six raised beds and a food pantry
Part of Food for the Journey — five churches across Southeast Wisconsin growing food for neighborhoods without a grocery store. From June to Labor Day the whole congregation worships outdoors here at 9:00am.
Six raised beds
Tended through the season by volunteers from the congregation and the neighborhood.
Where the produce goes
Harvested and delivered to Apostle Presbyterian Food Pantry.
Food for the Journey
Five churches yoked together to feed people in Milwaukee's food-desert areas. food4thejourney.org
No experience needed and no membership required — come find us on a summer Sunday, or reach out through the church office.
Music
A choir, an organ, and children who sing
Led by Sean DeBoth (Director of Music since 2004), organist Jeff Peterson, and children's music director Becky Schuppman.
Chancel Choir
Sings during weekly worship and for all special services. Rehearses once a week.
Children's Choir
Children learn music during the last 15 minutes of Sunday School, sing every first Sunday, and present the Christmas pageant.
Choir Invitationals
Can't make every weekly rehearsal? Meet the choir in the sanctuary at 9:15 on an Invitational Sunday, learn the music, and sing for just one service.
Shared Kitchen
Gather and Grow
We are upgrading the church kitchen to commercial grade and renting it to local food entrepreneurs who need somewhere licensed to work.
Commercial grade
An upgrade of the existing kitchen to standards that let food businesses trade from it.
Who can use it
Local food entrepreneurs across the North Shore, at rates set to be reachable.
Ask about booking
Our kitchen manager Jobea connects food entrepreneurs to the building — reach her at hello@gatherandgrow.kitchen.
Congregational Life
Someone makes sure you are expected
The committee that prepares the worship space for each season, hosts the Interfaith Thanksgiving Service, and quietly organizes the lunches. It is always glad of new hands — ask the church office to be connected.
The liturgical seasons
Preparing and dressing the worship space for Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter and Pentecost.
Interfaith Thanksgiving
Coordinating hospitality when we host, with Congregation Shalom and our other interfaith neighbors.
Ladies Who Lunch
Every few months, and new faces are the point.
